What I
do

I am a film composer, orchestrator, songwriter and producer based in Lilienthal near Bremen, Germany.

I compose music for film, combining a symphonic background with a strong affinity for song-based music rooted in rock, pop and alternative. My work ranges from subtle, atmospheric scores to rhythm-driven orchestral compositions.

Selected credits include the NDR documentary “Hitlers Zorn – Die Kinder von Bad Sachsa” (directed by Michael Heuer), which was shortlisted for the Grimme Award, the ZDF documentary “Der mit dem Wolf lebt”, and the poetry film “Innehalten”, awarded 3rd Prize at the Leipzig Poetry Film Festival. The jury particularly highlighted the subtle interplay between image, narration and music.

As a multi-instrumentalist, I develop many sound worlds directly in my own studio, recording acoustic, electric and electronic instruments and combining them with orchestral or hybrid production techniques.

For me, music always serves a narrative function: shaping perception, building tension and creating emotional depth within the dramaturgy of a film.

Where I learned

I studied Film Scoring and Drum Performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston as a scholarship recipient and Dean’s List student. There, I developed the compositional and orchestration skills required for large ensemble and orchestral writing.

I gained international production experience as a copyist, orchestrator and recording assistant, including work on the PBS documentary “400 Years of the Telescope”, recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, as well as projects with the Prague Metropolitan Orchestra at Smecky Studios.

After completing my degree in school music education, I worked as a research assistant in applied linguistics at the University of Bremen. The interdisciplinary research project explored the interaction between film, music and language and examined the psychological effects of film music on perception and narration.

Until today, my experience in that research project shapes the way I approach the scoring process.

What else?

Alongside my film work, I release music as a drummer, guitarist and bassist in various indie and alternative projects. In 2015, my children’s album “Und täglich rockt das Kringelschwanzgetier” was released and has sold more than 10,000 copies.

I also work as an author and songwriter in the field of music education, contributing educational materials and publishing a teaching resource on film music with Lugert Verlag.

In 2026, I was selected as a participant of the JETS Initiative (“Music Meets Film”) at the Berlinale.
