Für die neue Ausgabe der Musik und Unterricht (160) habe ich einen spannenden Artikel über “Musikanalyse von Popsongs” am Beispiel von Die with a Smile geschrieben. Dabei geht es um die Analyse der formalen Struktur, der Rhythmik, der Produktionsebenen und der Harmonik.

Um Musik zu analysieren, muss man nicht zwangsläufig auf klassi- sche Werke oder Jazz zurückgrei- fen. Der Artikel zeigt exemplarisch am Song „Die With a Smile“, wie man in zunehmender Komplexi- tät in die Tiefen eines Popsongs eintauchen kann. Dabei werden Formteile, Rhythmik, Harmonik sowie Arrangement, Instrumen- tierung und Fragen der Produktion näher beleuchtet.

For the latest issue of Musik und Unterricht (No. 160), I have written an article on the analysis of pop songs, using “Die With a Smile” as a case study. The focus lies on examining the song’s formal structure, rhythmic design, harmonic language, production layers and arrangement.
